Article short description:
Antimatter is the most energetically generating source of energy known to Humanity. When antimatter gets a contact with matter generates energy, combined mas of two turns into an energy. In this AI simulation antimatter has been used as fuel for a starship which would carry a crew of 500 people for around 40 years. Antimatter is the most energetically generating source of energy known to Humanity. When antimatter gets a contact with matter generates energy, combined mas of two turns into an energy. In this AI simulation antimatter has been used as fuel for a starship which would carry a crew of 500 people for around 40 years. That starship in that simulation, with antimatter engines would have achieved a half speed of light (0.5c – 539 626 000 km/h) and it would get to Alfa Centauri in 8.74 years consuming 4,850 tons of antimatter. The matter in that case would be a standard hydrogen with the same mass 4,850 tons. The engine for that starship uses annihilation of protons and antiprotons producing subatomic particles called pions. Such a charged pions are traveling with a 94 % speed of light generating impulse trust in super-cooled magnetic nozzle channel accelerating a starship with a total mass around 68 450 tons to speed 0.5c. The acceleration of that starship to that speed would have consumed 1,940 tons antimatter and matter. Cruising with that speed would have consumed 727.5 tons of antimatter and matter and decelerations from 0.5c would take 2,182.5 tons of antimatter and matter. This basic concept of starship includes long travel distance modules – habitual rings generating external force, artificial gravity, and magnetic field generator which might have consume around 15 GW of energy. The further data related to maintaining crew generated by AI can be discussable - water supplies and food for a journey to Alfa Centauri in total around – 3 500 tons – for a crew of 500 members. Also this simulation has been taking under consideration that starship would be a mother ship for 6 exploration ships and 10 probes, which mass is included into a total mas of the starship. This basic simulations are a subject to further studies but they are clearly showing that traveling with a speed equal 0.5c is realistic and stays in known physics frames. The biggest challenge here would be to manufacture antimatter for a mass scale. It has to be underlined that there are no known methods, practical and theoretical at the moment, of producing antimatter at such a scale, which would allow to operate such a starship.
